Happy Wednesday everyone! Tennessee’s been hit with some snow in the past two weeks. I don’t know about you, but I absolutely love it! I will admit that being stuck inside for a few days can be a little difficult, but that’s why I’m here! If you’re stuck inside due to the snow, here are five fun things you can do on a snow day!
1. Binge watch some shows
Who doesn’t love binge watching? Vegging out in front of the TV can be good for the soul, especially if you have good shows to watch! I’m going to be honest with you, I watch a lot of TV. When the snow hit the other day, I was a little worried about what I was going to watch. To all of you TV junkies out there, you know that this is a valid thing to worry about. I just got caught up on Life in Pieces, Bob’s Burgers, and I recently finished watching The Office. So what did I do? I went to the magical world of Netflix and chose Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt. If you haven’t seen this, you need to! It’s so funny and just a feel-good show!
2. Read a book
This option is a little bit healthier for your brain than the first option (but they’re both fun). Reading a book is one of the best things you can do on a snow day! If you have a Kindle, pull that out and buy that book you’ve been dying to read. If you don’t, go to your dusty bookshelf and read a book you bought a few years ago that you haven’t got into yet, or re-read Harry Potter for the twentieth time. I’ve really been into Total Cat Mojo and Turtles All the Way Down lately. If you have any good book recommendations, leave those in the comments below! On a side note, I would love to start a book club soon. There’s something about reading the same book with a group of people that makes it that much better.
3. Cook a good meal
With all of the takeout options available now, we sometimes forget that we have a stove. Take your snow day to cook a good, healthy, satisfying, comforting meal! Before the snow comes, get on the wonderful world of Pinterest and go get those ingredients! If the snow has already hit, dig through your cabinet and create an original meal! Who knows? It could become a staple! To add to the festive spirit, turn off all of your lights and light some candles! Candle-light meals just taste better for some reason.
4. Play a board game
If you’re by yourself, this probably won’t work, but if you’re snowed in with someone, pull out a good old-fashioned board game! They always make the time pass. With today’s technology, you don’t have to go to the store to get a quality board game, you have options. You can either order one on Amazon (hello two-day shipping) or you can download one on your phone! I know this kind of takes away from the old-fashioned sense of the game, but it’s still fun!
5. Play out in the snow
This might be a given, but for some of us, the snow only comes once a year, so go out and play in it! Take a walk and get some beautiful pictures. If you have a dog, take them out to play in it! No matter how cold it is, the snow is fun for all ages. And don’t worry about getting too cold. Hot cocoa is always waiting for you when you go in!
I hope this list helps you find a good way to spend the special snow days that life gives us!
